As part of our religious education, each class spent a week looking at and discovering the Jewish faith. Everyone in school, pupils and teachers alike, really enjoyed this learning and we celebrated this by holding a whole-school assembly to share what we've learned. The work produced over the course of the week was outstanding (especially all of the lovely creative work). Reception class showed us a Menorah they'd made; year one shared with us a Jewish song they'd learned; year two told us all about Shabbat and even made some Challah Bread, which smelt delicious; year three made shoe box synagogues, showing us all the various internal and external features we'd expect to see in and around a synagogue, and they even explained why certain symbols are used ; year four showed us some Bar and Mat Mitzvah cards they had made; year five made a model of the Passover Seder Plate; and year six told us all about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, learning all the events and symbols surrounding the Jewish New Year. Here are some photographs of our Judaism Assembly!
