Plants and animals in our back yard...

We have had a glorious day hunting for minibeasts, investigating and comparing different micro-habitats around school. We investigated the conditions, plants and creatures that live in the tree (by means of a tree shake), the grassy bank (with a net sweep), the soil and the log-piles (by turning and digging for animals). We worked in different groups and compared our results in class (good scientists don't just test an area once!). We are also doing a scientific experiment to see if 'old bean seed' will grow as well as 'new bean seed' - a local gardener wants to know the results! Have a look at our photos...
