We have just arrived at the end of our first Year 2 RE topic and have reflected on our learning journey. Throughout this topic we have considered new beginnings that we might make, responded to the Creation Story, listened to a range of psalms and have even written our own litanies. We have thought about why it is important to start the day with a prayer and have discussed special places in which we can pray.
"Signs and Symbols"
This is the next topic for us to explore and focuses on the sacrament of Baptism. As part of this topic, it would be great if you could bring in a special artefact from your own Baptism, as we will be investigating the many symbols used as part of a Baptism.
Celebrating our Signs and Symbols Topic
On Thursday 13th November, we planned and participated in a Class Worship to celebrate our learning journey for this topic. We chose prayers and readings and listened to some lovely music as we each made the sign of the cross on our foreheads using Holy Water. We also made paper doves on which we wrote how we would like the Holy Spirit to guided us throughout Year 2. These were offered up to God on our prayer mat. We ended our celebration by having sharing some cake - just like we do after an actual Baptism. Apparently, this was the children's favourite part!
