Welcome to our class and a new school year! 

Take a look at what we have been doing during Autumn term 1.

 

In this half term we are learning about: 

  • Come and See - our first two topics are Homes and Promises 
  • Literacy - instructions, persuasive writing and stories by the same author in an imaginary world
  • Maths - following our Maths Makes Sense scheme 
  • Science - animals including humans 
  • DT - healthy eating and cereal bars 
  • Geography - our local area 
  • Computing - presenting data and information 
  • PE - lead by Mr Cannon learning about personal skills with balance and coordination, as well as swimming lessons 
  • French - learning numbers 0-10 and how greet each other 
  • Music - medieval period 800-1400 
  • PSHE - statements to live by and collective acts of worship 
    • ‘I try to follow our school and classroom rules’
    • ‘I know I belong in a community that includes my school'
    • ‘I can say how I feel’
    • ‘I can laugh and have fun’
    • ‘I know what to do if I see anyone being hurt’
    • ‘I can tell you how I look after myself’

Autumn 1- week 6

  • RE Homework - pink books - for our RE display please bring a photo of your house in. Can you also begin to learn our class mercy prayer - in for Wednesday 17.10.18
  • Maths Homework - pink books - can you tell the time? - in for Wednesday 17.10.18
  • Comprehension Homework - blue reading journals - annotate the persuasive letter or design a poster for the book you are reading - in for Wednesday 17.10.18 
  • Practise timestables - back of blue reading journal - to be tested on 16.10.18
  • Practise spellings - yellow book - to be tested and in for Friday 19.10.18
  • Please also practise hand writing using the sheet in the back of the pink homework book. There are also electronic copies at the bottom of this page for you to print off, or you can ask your child to get more copies from school. 
  • Continue to complete 1 reading challenge a week, as well as reading each day and recording this in your journal with the date so you can achieve FAB 5 READERS - remember to tick in the front of your journal for this to be counted. Please remind your child to also make sure they have their reading book and journal in school everyday.

This week we began our new RE topic promises - we discussed what promises and rules we make, as well as what clubs we belong to - 8.10.18

In Literacy this week we followed instructions to make crispy cakes and paper planes - we then tested both of these and use it to write our own instructions - 26.9.18

This week we went into Eastwood and completed some data collection - on the way back we visited the park and had a wonderful time - 25.9.18

By the end of Year 3, we must know our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. I have put on 3 songs we use in class to help us learn them.
