We have been learning about the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, best known for creating portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruit and vegetables. The children have really enjoyed looking at his paintings to gather ideas for their own piece of 'fruity face' art. They have responded by creating still-life drawings using pastels, exploring texture through printing with fruit and vegetables and experimenting with collage techniques. We have also been learning how to colour mix using our hands - to magical effect! We have had a fabulous time painting our final 'Fruit Faces' using our colour mixing skills and we have even learned the French names for each of the fruits. Next it's real fruit sculptures, we're going 3d!
Colour mixing game A fun activity which encourages children to explore the Colour Wheel on a simple and interactive level.
