RE Questions
During Spring term 2 we will continue to learn under the topic of Once upon a time.
Our RE topic this term is Meals. We will learn about the meals that are special to us. We will also learn about The Last Supper, what happened and why this was a special meal for Jesus and his disciples. We will make our promises for Lent, talking about the things we will sacrifice just like Jesus.
We are excellent at thinking of and writing our own prayers. In our previous topic we enjoyed writing thank you prayers to God for all the special people we have in our lives.
Look at our wonderful RE work
Spring term 1
This half term our topic overview is Once upon a time. In English we are learning, using our favourite stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In Maths we will continue to practise number bonds to 10 and 20, counting using tens frames and numicon, which we love to use!
Our first RE topic which is for the first four weeks back we will be learning about special people. We will look at the special people in our families and communities. We will talk about why they are special to us in our circle times. We will then look at Jesus as a special person and what makes him special. We will read and retell stories which show this and share our favourites too.
Please encourage your child to bring in their favourite Bible story to class every Monday we will have time at the end of the day to read and talk about them.
In year 1 we have fun, learning through focused groups and in our classroom provision. In our classroom we have challenges in RE, Science, Art, History and Geography. We have areas in our classroom where we can deepen our understanding in RE, construction, woodwork and phonics. We enjoy all areas in our new classroom, it gives us so many opportunities to practise skilled we have learned.
Our topic this half term is Toy Story and then a short topic on Christmas.
Monday 4th November This week we have been busy learning in our classroom that has been set up with new challenges for the weeks ahead. We have been designing and building a marble run, we have been searching for the school using google maps, designing and making our own playgrounds. In RE we are in the last week of our topic Belonging we have learned more about the Sacrament of Baptism and we can now recognise key words and vocabulary. Also we have used role play to show the key components of a Baptism.
Our topic last half term was We are Incredible
So far this term we have read texts, Supertato, Traction Man and Oliver's Vegetables. In RE our learning has been about Families and how we show love and care. The children have thought about the love and care in the family of Jesus. We have made collages used role play and made paintings of our families during this topic.
This week Monday 30th September
English-We have read Oliver's Vegetables in English and talked about where vegetables come from. Through looking at non-fiction texts we have been able to find out more about what happens to vegetables.
RE- Families- We have been looking at the life of Jesus what type of house he might of lived in and comparing that to us today. In provision we have been writing our own thank you prayers. Using key vocabulary.
Maths- we have been using the whole part whole method to learn more about number and deepen our understanding.
Well done to everyone this week who has achieved dojo points- keep up the super behaviour.
