Today we joined many schools all over Britain in our Sport Relief events. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we were able to think about how lucky we were, having fun with our teachers and friends; whilst raising money and changing the lives of people who aren't as fortunate as us.
The children wore 'sporty' non-school uniform and gave donations of money to school. There were lots of official Sport Relief outfits, including: sweat bands, crazy wigs, T-Shirts and even cuddly toys and onesies!! Everyone looked brilliant!
The whole school went out onto the yard after registration and we warmed up our bodies and minds by following the exercise moves demonstrated by the teachers and TAs on the steps. It was amazingly funny, everyone joined in and tried really hard. The year 5 and 6 children did the 'conga' on the way back to their classrooms and all in lovely, crisp sunshine! (Check out the photographs!)
In school, teachers ran 'mini' classroom Olympics. There were 10 events and the children could win certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The KS1 teachers held a race for staff which was EXTREMELY competitive! Some children learned the Sport Relief song and others watched the video clips showing how Sport Relief money in spent.
Overall it was a fantastic day in school and many thanks to all of the teachers for their hard work and creativity and the parents and children who made donations to such a worthy cause!
